01 September 2008 A good weekend alround! By Catherine Owens @ 05:54 :: 511 Views   Well let me start by saying thankyou to our little team Fifi Dan and lucy for all there hard work this weekend. Dan had the unfortunate job of staying at home whilst we bustled up and down the motorways with various lorries and ponies! we started at 430am on saturday, through sleepy eyes and the lights of mobile phones we where out in the field catching the young horses, who couldnt understand what all the fuss was about until after breakfast when the plaits started going in! NIP TUCK and VALEGRO went of 1st at 6am The rest of the yard were turned out in the fields, then WATERLOO,BEING BLING and MOVIE STAR in the big lorry with fifi driving they left at 10am Carl was already on one when we left, Greg was grooming for him along with Jayne who owns NIP TUCK, Barney as he is called at home is Gregs pride and joy from a crazy young horse who we couldnt even get a rug on he has become a real pleasure to handle, a credit to gregs nature and skill with young horses, then it was the turn of BEING BLING one of my favorites he is a cheeky young thing, he recieved a 9 for his canter its just to easy for him, he is a really clever horse and needs a lot to entertain him! he entered the ring and had to take a good look around to make sure his audience was large enough which didnt give the best holt but of he went in his glorious trot a few green mistakes but nothing that dosnt screem potential, watch out for him in the next few years then came VALEGRO what a good pony as reliable as ever his big relaxed paces gained him 1st prize then came MOVIESTAR who had a few mistakes but produced a 70 both the boys made it into the final and then won their age groups Carl produced a flawless test in my eyes anyway!! to music, for me this is where my pleasure comes from why I do my job to watch him ride and get the horses to give him everything they can because they want to try for him makes me feel my team and I have suceeded in our jobs. MOVIESTAR won the music in great style and VALEGRO too won his age group final we Have been very lucky in the last few weeks to have done so well Lucy being national young rider champion and now this I hope our sucess will continue on to the nationals in september, but once again I want to say thankyou to our team for all your hard work all those little bit of extras from you all( the tail pulling,trimming whiskers, bathing and even the general day to day care, the boring bits like mucking out and feeding) has paid off the ponies looked beautiful and i was proud to be a part of it well done guys!! take care catherine
