20 October 2008 grumpy old men By Catherine Owens @ 18:58 :: 545 Views   Its been a quiet couple of weeks just catching up with jobs mainley clipping and celebrating the fact that DOLENDO or big don as he is known at home is finally allowed to start working again after months of road walking carl is finally allowed to start working him again he is so full of life and loving the fact that he no longer has to put up with me bobbling around on his back up and down the same bit of road this is a horse who really loves his work he is like a new man now he has done a few changes the silly old fool!!!!!!!! liebling is looking very well and has settled beautifully into our bunch he lives next door to big don and they both think they are top dog! which can be a bit noisy at feed time bless them, Anne who owns dolendo is famous for having pocket fulls of extra strong mints and no matter how stealth like she is at trying to give a mint to one of them the other is always watching they are like two old men in the corner watching the young fillys pass by and giving their advice to all the young boys in the yard who dont really want it but out of politeness to their elders they listen. I always get excited when we start clipping you turn hairy thewell ponies into beatifull swans two months later im over it! no matter how well you wrap up the hair gets in months later you cant stop scratching and you realise that was your clipping bra but how the hell did it get in there!! you had a polo neck on and your boiler suit we have all been there any tips please email me on owens.catherine91@googlemail.com come to think of it if any one would like to ask any questions about anything we do please contact me. Greg has been out to a few locals shows with TOMATOE guess who choose that name!(we now have a raisin as well!!) he has come home with over 70% both times not bad for a young horse who has put many a brave rider on their backs on the floor so a massive well done to Greg for all his work with this one whilst we are on the subject of youngsters Charlotte has been fortunate enough to gain a new ride on a very smart mare called DUCHESS who she will be competing on for the first time tomorrow so i will keep you informed. One the lovely ducks has been murdered im gutted i love the ducks they are always so jolly john annes friend had even built them a ramp to go in and out of the stream. Demo season is upon us once more we are down in hampshire next saturday at sarahs ( moviestars owner) there are still a few tickets left if you fancy joining us details are on the were to find carl page and the the next is your horse live we also have demo mornings at the yard were local riding clubs get to come in a spend the morning at the yard carl talks through the days events at home and they get to see the young horses who have just been backed right up to grand prix horses and they get to look around the yard see the ponies at home which for me is testament to our team for people to come in and see what a lovely atmosphere we have in the yard and how relaxed our horses really are and to see that carl really is human although the bit they always talk about when they leave no not our beautiful ponies or carl but the yard loo and its amazing sink!!!! take care catherine
